Mohali- Former Health Minister and senior Congress leader Balbir Singh Sidhu strongly condemned the derogatory remarks made by BJP Minister Vijay Shah against Col. Sophia Qureshi and said that it is shameful to associate the religious identity of India’s daughter with Pakistanis and terrorists, and this attempt to spread hatred clearly describes the character of BJP. Linking the pride of the Indian Army Colonel Sophia Qureshi with terrorism based on her religious identity is not only shameful but also a symbol of the cowardice of the BJP minister.
He also asked why the Bharatiya Janata Party, which usually wears the cloak of nationalism, is silent on such a serious comment. This silence is not only reprehensible, but also a dangerous signal for the country’s unity, brotherhood and military morale, which we will not tolerate at any cost. He also said that such insulting comments by BJP leaders are a good example of the dirty mentality of the BJP government towards the Muslim community.
Talking about Operation Sindoor, Sidhu said, “This war was not a war of any religion, but a war of the country, it was against terrorism and such a statement by a BJP minister on this issue is an attempt to spoil the Hindu-Muslim brotherhood in India, but no matter how hard he tries, the Congress party and the entire country will not allow their heinous conspiracy to be completed at any cost.”
While commenting on the incident of Mr. Rahul Gandhi being stopped by the BJP government in Bihar today, Sidhu said, “Today in Bihar, Mr. Rahul Gandhi was stopped from reaching the Ambedkar hostel to listen to the voices of Dalit students. On the one hand, while the BJP government is preventing the leader of the opposition from raising his voice in favor of the country, on the other hand, no action is being taken on the comments made by his own party ministers against the country, this is extremely disgusting and shameful.”
Sidhu questioned the BJP government and asked, “Action is taken against the opposition leaders who speak in favor of the country, but why is the BJP silent on the ministers who make comments against the country? Why is the BJP government, which starts taking action against the opposition leaders on trivial matters, today silent on the remarks made by its own leader against the daughter of the country? Why is he not being sacked?”
Sidhu finally said that the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take the indecent comments made by a senior minister of Madhya Pradesh about Sophia Qureshi seriously and take strict action against it, so that the mutual brotherhood and harmony in the country is not damaged.
