SBBS University organizes programme ,82 Professors, resource persons and experts from various Institutes take part

Phagwara (Report by Jaswant Singh Gandam)A two-week Faculty Development Programme(FDP) on ” Nurturing Innovative Teaching Skills and Research Methodologies for Enabling Future Leadership in Higher Education Institutes” concluded at nearby Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Khiala.Today’s varsity press note said that 82 Professors, experts and resource persons from various Universities delivered enlightening lectures and gave powerful presentations.

It was organised under the guidance of University Chancellor Sant Manmohan Singh,Secretary Hardaman Singh Minhas and Vice- Chancellor Dr Dharamjit Singh Parmar.While the inaugural day discourses were delivered by Dr Sanjiv Sood,Vice Chancellor Guru Ravidas Ayurved University Hoshiarpur,Dr Satish Kumar Sharma,Ex-Director DAV Committee Jalandhar and Dr Navdeep Singh Tung,Ex Dean Academics GNDU, Amritsar, the Valedictory speeches and power presentations were given by Prof Adarsh Pal Vig,Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board,Dr Gitika Sirhindi,HoD,Botany Department,Punjabi University Patiala,Mr Balbir Singh Sudan IAS(Retd),former Home Secretary Punjab,Mr SP Sethi,Chairman cum MD Fine Switchgears, Dr Vinay Sharma,UILS Regional Campus Hoshiarpur,Mr Krishan Arora and Prof Jaswant Singh Gandam,Ex-Officiating Principal Guru Nanak College Phagwara.

Underlining the significance of technology in this hi-tech era and paramount need for faculty members to regularly update themselves, various speakers stressed that the pedagogic,academic and research activities and projects should aim at creating a fine blend and balance between character-oriented and career-specific studies for producing students prepared well to meet challenges of life.

Emphasising that syllabi should be student-centric, they said that technology should serve human beings,not lord over them.”Artificial Intelligence(AI) and digital technology should be facilitators,not masters”,they remarked.Some speakers emphasised the need to inculcate scientific temper and rational outlook in students.Telling students that hard work alone was the key to success,Speakers urged faculty to chisel,shape and mould students in such a way that they should become brilliant leaders who can lead from the front.Dr Kiran Arora,former VC,Bahra University Himachal Pradesh,Dr Nakul Kundra, English Department, Allahabad University,Dr Surjit Singh Bhatti,Punjabi Studies,Punjabi University Patiala and experts from Kurukshetra,GNDU and other universities took part. Varsity Chancellor Sant Manmohan Singh,Secretary Minhas,VC Dr Dharmjit Singh Parmar honoured speakers and guests with mementoes, shawls and ‘Siropas’.
