Jai Inder Kaur Condemns Dr. Balbir Singh’s Misleading Statements – Calls Out AAP’s Abject Failure in Patiala

Patiala:BJP Mahila Morcha Punjab President Smt. Jai Inder Kaur has issued a strong and formal response to the recent remarks made by Aam Aadmi Party Minister Dr. Balbir Singh regarding the development of Patiala. She termed his statements not only misleading but also a clear attempt to divert public attention from the total administrative and developmental failure of the AAP government in the region.
Smt. Jai Inder Kaur stated that Dr. Balbir Singh, being both a Cabinet Minister and a representative from Patiala, must first answer for his own government’s non-performance before raising questions on others. She reminded him that during the devastating floods of 2023, when large parts of Patiala were submerged, it was the Aam Aadmi Party that was in power — just as it is today. Yet, no substantial steps were taken by the government then or since to prevent the recurrence of such calamities.
She further pointed out that one of the most crucial flood-prevention and city-rejuvenation initiatives — the ₹208.33 crore project for the revival of Chhoti and Waddi Nadi — was initiated by former Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, but was unfortunately scrapped by the present AAP government. This irresponsible and politically motivated decision deprived Patiala of a vital infrastructure upgrade and exposed its citizens to repeated urban flooding.
Expressing grave concern over the deteriorating state of healthcare in Patiala, Smt. Jai Inder Kaur condemned the repeated incidents of power failure at Rajindra Hospital — Punjab’s key government medical institution. She stated that there have been multiple instances where surgeries were disrupted, and patients were left without electricity and life-support systems. Despite holding the health portfolio, Dr. Balbir Singh has failed to ensure even basic infrastructure at the hospital, including a functional emergency power backup system. She further noted that the Super Specialty Block at Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, sanctioned at a cost of ₹150 crore, was a major healthcare initiative undertaken during the tenure of Member of Parliament Smt. Preneet Kaur. However, due to the apathy and administrative neglect of the current AAP government, the project has witnessed significant delays and remains far from completion.
On the issue of law and order, Smt. Jai Inder Kaur highlighted the alarming rise in street crimes, gang activity, and drug-related incidents in Patiala. She emphasized that the sense of safety and security among citizens has been severely eroded under the AAP administration, with no concrete action or visible improvement on the ground. She further remarked that the much-hyped campaign “Yudh Nashe De Virudh”, repeatedly promoted by the AAP government, has turned out to be nothing more than a PR stunt. Despite the heavy publicity, there has been no real reduction in drug trafficking or consumption. The drug menace continues to flourish, and enforcement remains weak and inconsistent.
In contrast, Smt. Jai Inder Kaur reminded the public that the developmental track record of former Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and Member of Parliament Smt. Preneet Kaur is well documented and widely respected. Projects such as the ₹503 crore canal-based water supply scheme, aimed at ensuring clean and sustainable drinking water for the city, were launched during Capt. Amarinder Singh’s tenure but remains incomplete due to the current government’s neglect and lack of execution. Similarly, the initiation of Dr. Bhupinder Singh Sports University and various road and sanitation upgrades laid a foundation for long-term growth. Furthermore, unlike the current regime, their administration not only built infrastructure but also supported the preservation and promotion of Patiala’s cultural ethos.
Concluding her statement, Smt. Jai Inder Kaur said that the people of Patiala are politically aware and historically rooted. They can clearly distinguish between those who served them and those who failed them. No amount of rhetorical deflection by Dr. Balbir Singh can erase the public’s memory of broken promises, stalled projects, neglected duties, and publicity stunts. The people will hold this government accountable — and very soon.
