Brahmpura accuses AAP government of pushing Punjab into debt and misleading it

Tarn Taran – Shiromani Akali Dal Vice President and former MLA in-charge of Khadoor Sahib constituency Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, while talking to reporters at the residence of village Kang Giani Tajinder Singh today, accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab government of pushing the state under a deep debt burden and misleading the people with false claims. He said that the AAP government’s fake advertisements and misuse of helicopters are a waste of Punjab’s treasury, while the state’s debt is continuously increasing.
Mr. Brahmpura, while mentioning the huge reduction in Punjab’s borrowing limit by the Centre, said that while the Punjab government had demanded Rs 47,076.40 crore, the Centre has cut Rs 16,676 crore. He said, “This clearly shows that the AAP government has completely failed in financial management. Punjab’s future is sinking in the mire of debt and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his cabinet are directly responsible for this.”
He also targeted Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema’s statement terming the cut as “fiscal strangulation”. Mr. Brahmpura said, “The Finance Minister should understand that this cut by the Centre has been made due to the arrears of power subsidy and loans related to the power sector of previous years. This is a result of his own mismanagement, not the Centre’s anti-Punjab policy.”
Commenting on AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s Punjab visits and misuse of the government helicopter, Mr. Brahmpura said, “It is surprising that Punjab’s money is being misused for the luxury of Delhi leaders. The Punjab government’s helicopter is not a private taxi that anyone can use. It is a direct burden on the Punjab treasury, while the Punjabi people are in debt.”
Attacking the AAP government over the drug de-addiction campaign, Mr. Brahmpura said, “Earlier, the AAP government used to talk about war on drugs, but now it has turned into a drug de-addiction campaign, which is just a show. AAP ministers and MLAs are going from village to village to take oath, but they do not know how many deaths have occurred due to drug overdose in their respective constituencies. He further said that the AAP MLA from Khadoor Sahib has also expressed his displeasure over the failure of the police to stop drug abuse, which is a clear proof of the empty claims of the AAP government.”
Mr. Brahmpura asserted, “The people of Punjab have woken up now and are not going to be influenced by the misleading propaganda of ‘AAP’. This government has weakened Punjab economically and has completely failed to solve problems like drugs.” He said that the Shiromani Akali Dal will always be ready to protect the interests of the people of Punjab and will continue to expose the anti-people policies of the ‘AAP’ government.
On this occasion, along with former Brahmpura, renowned personalities of the area and Akali workers were present, especially Gursewak Singh Sheikh, former chairman, Amrik Singh, president, Mukhtar Singh Kang, Jathedar Kashmir Singh, etc.
