Dreams of a Modern Sports Complex in Khadoor Sahib Dashed by AAP’s Mismanagement, Says Brahmpura

Deserted Playgrounds, Distressed Players & Businessmen: Brahmpura Questions AAP Government about the Additional Surcharge on Industry and Stalled Goindwal Sahib Sports Complex.

Tarn Taran – Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, Vice President of the Shiromani Akali Dal, former LA from Khadoor Sahib, and Chairman of the Punjab Rural Development Society, addressed the media on Thursday in Chohla Sahib. During his remarks, he delivered a pointed critique of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, articulating his deep concerns regarding the current trajectory of Punjab and asserting that the AAP’s misguided policies and negligence are undermining every sector of the state.

“We are witnessing a crisis of immense proportions. Industry is on the brink of collapse, our youth are grappling with staggering unemployment rates, and critical development projects initiated during the Akali regime have been stalled indefinitely,” Brahmpura asserted emphatically.
He particularly condemned the recent imposition of an additional surcharge on electricity for industries. “This is an unjust burden on our industrial sector. The AAP government has irresponsibly added a ₹2 per unit surcharge during peak hours. When electricity costs are already high, pushing rates to nearly ₹10 per unit is an attack on our businesses, especially when many are struggling to keep their heads above water at ₹8.16 per unit.”
Brahmpura pointed out that industries operating continuously, such as steel rolling mills and furnaces, are feeling the pinch severely. “At a time when we need support and relief, the AAP government is tightening their grip on our industries. This will only accelerate the exodus of businesses from Punjab, resulting in greater unemployment,” he elaborated.
Turning his focus to the AAP’s job creation claims, Brahmpura shared a poignant story that encapsulates the grim reality faced by many young athletes. “Take the case of Deepak Kumar, a national-level athlete from Fazilka. This young man, who has won silver medals in cross-country races and received multiple awards, is now reduced to selling juice from a cart to make ends meet, proudly displaying his medals. How can we tolerate such a disgrace? It stands as a testimony to the AAP government’s hollow promises and their anti-youth stance,” he asserted with deep emotion.
Further highlighting the impact on Khadoor Sahib, Brahmpura lamented, “Our dreams of establishing a modern sports complex in Sri Goindwal Sahib, tailored to foster youth participation and nurture talent, have been dashed. We envisioned a facility with a football field, an athletic track, and indoor sporting activities. Yet the AAP government has halted this project mid-way, citing a lack of funds, which we know is nothing but a sham.”
He reiterated that not just the sports stadium, but a multitude of other projects — including vital road infrastructure, rural development initiatives, and significant educational reforms — initiated under the Akali government, now languish under AAP’s rule, inflicting suffering on the general populace.
Brahmpura boldly challenged the AAP government, stating, “Instead of indulging in wasteful expenditures on false propaganda, it’s high time they took action on the ground level. I call for the immediate completion of stalled development projects, swift relief for our industries, and urgent employment solutions for our deserving youth.”
Former MLA Brahmpura was joined by key supporters, including former Sarpanch Amrik Singh, Satnam Singh Karmuwala, Jagrup Singh Pakkhopura, Gurmeet Singh Secretary, Sarpanch Bawa Singh Rattoke, Dr. Jatinder Singh, Manjinder Singh Latti, Kurinder Singh Nikka Chohla, Simranjeet Singh Kaku, Subedar Harbans Singh, Subedar Surjit Singh, Baba Balvir Singh Laina, and Gurdev Singh Chohla Sahib, along with a large contingent of community members.
