“Today marks a dark day for democracy in Punjab,” Brahmpura declared. He pointed to the widespread raids across 25 locations in Punjab that have fostered an atmosphere of fear, arguing that such actions are not genuine investigations but rather attempts to intimidate and suppress the leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Brahmpura emphasized that the allegations against Majithia are completely baseless and politically motivated. “This is the same case the Congress government pursued in 2021 to settle political scores,” he stated. “Having failed to substantiate these claims over several years, the AAP government is now resorting to this desperate move as the 2027 elections loom, aimed at stifling Majithia’s surging popularity and silencing Punjab’s most formidable opposition voice.”
Brahmpura accused the AAP government of orchestrating the FIR against Majithia citing disproportionate assets as mere political drama. Brahmpura criticized the government for diverting public attention away from urgent issues plaguing Punjab, such as drug abuse, unemployment, and the deteriorating law and order, all of which the government has failed to address effectively.
He dismissed the AAP spokesperson Neel Garg’s assertions of impartiality in the investigation as “ludicrous.” Brahmpura raised pointed questions: “If this investigation is impartial, why are substantial teams of 50 officers conducting raids? Why have lawyers and the press been barred from these operations?” He contended that the truth lies in the fact that the government lacks evidence and is instead aiming to tarnish the reputation of an honest leader through manufactured trials.
Brahmpura asserted that Shiromani Akali Dal will launch an extensive movement against this “political emergency,” vowing to expose those AAP MLAs who are compromising the very foundations of democracy and constitutional values. He noted the unsettling silence from AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann regarding this serious issue.
“The AAP government should not assume that by arresting Majithia, they can silence the voice of the Akali Dal,” Brahmpura challenged. “Every one of our workers will rise to this occasion, embodying the spirit of Bikram Singh Majithia, and take to the streets against this oppression and dictatorial conduct of the government.”
