Chandigarh-BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh hit out at the AAP government in Punjab for its repeated attempts to rake up politically motivated allegations to hide its failures in governance. The Bhagwant Mann government’s dismal failure to deliver is being reflected in political vengeance that the AAP government has unleashed on opponents.Chugh said the Shiromani Akali Dal–BJP alliance was in power only till 2017. After that, for five years Congress ruled, and now AAP has been in power for more than three years. If any wrongdoing happened, why didn’t these governments act then? Why resort to media theatrics now?
He slammed the hypocrisy of Arvind Kejriwal and AAP on the issue of drugs. “If Bikram Majithia was really guilty, why did Kejriwal apologize to him unconditionally in 2018? And if he wasn’t guilty, then what is the moral basis of restarting this witch hunt?” Chugh said.
“Both Congress and AAP had promised to wipe out drugs from Punjab in a month. What actually happened is the exact opposite — Punjab today has become a hub of gangsters, extortion, and drug cartels. Law and order has collapsed,” Chugh added.
He further said that CM Bhagwant Mann has reduced himself to a brand ambassador of advertisements and political tourism. “While Punjab burns, the Chief Minister is either busy with foreign trips or issuing hollow statements. Their priority is image-building, not governance.”
Chugh asserted, “Wherever the BJP is in power — be it Uttar Pradesh or Assam — the mafia is being crushed and law and order is strictly enforced. Punjab deserves the same. But AAP’s history is clear: first make wild allegations, then vanish, and finally issue apologies in court. This is not governance, this is escapism.
