Amritsar- Punjab BJP Spokesperson Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala has expressed deep concern over the latest report released by Canada’s Ministry of Finance, saying that it fully validates India’s long-standing security concerns. He said this is no longer just a matter of India’s concern, but a global warning that allowing violent and separatist elements to spread under the garb of democracy is extremely dangerous.
Prof. Khiala said that in Canada’s 2025 Assessment of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Risks report, the fact that certain conspiracies have pushed Sikh-named separatist organisations into being categorized under the Canadian Criminal Code alongside globally notorious terror outfits such as Hamas and Hezbollah, is a matter of shame for the peace-loving Sikh diaspora.
Prof. Khiala further stated that Canada’s intelligence agency CSIS had already admitted that Khalistani groups are promoting anti-India funding and conspiracies from Canadian soil. Now, this financial report has once again exposed the reality and vindicated all of India’s warnings. The report’s revelation that violent groups misuse non-profit and charitable organisations as a cover to raise money for “politically motivated violent separatism,” collect donations from diaspora communities, and exploit weaknesses in Canada’s financial system, proves that Canada has not only failed in its responsibilities but has also become a hub for forces targeting India’s unity and integrity. This is equally a grave threat to Canada’s own internal security.
Prof. Sarchand Singh Khiala stressed that the time has come for Canada to move beyond issuing mere reports and take strict and immediate action against Khalistani and other violent organisations operating on its soil. Such action is vital for the protection of democracy and human values. If Canada is truly committed to world peace, it must dismantle these separatist networks without delay.
He said that on the one hand Canada talks about diplomatic relations with India, while on the other it shelters Khalistani groups — this double standard has now become evident before the global community.
Prof. Khiala praised the firm stance of the Indian government, stating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, India stands resolutely on its nationalist commitment. There will be no compromise on India’s unity, integrity, and sovereignty. Whether Khalistani or any other anti-India force, India has the capability to give a fitting response at every level.
He also questioned whether the Canadian government will continue to allow the Khalistani agenda a free run for the sake of its vote-bank politics. Will Canada remain a safe haven for anti-India elements, endangering world peace?
Prof. Khiala pointed out that in 2023, then Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s baseless allegations against India created tensions between the two countries. Although under new Prime Minister Mark Carney relations have somewhat improved, the hope for strong action against Khalistani activities still remains unfulfilled.
Prof. Khiala warned that the choice now lies with Canada: whether it will uphold democratic values or continue to shelter Pakistan-sponsored Khalistanis for its internal political gains. India, for its part, will continue to expose these forces not only on its own soil but at every international platform.
