Khadoor Sahib Floods Result of Illegal Mining Under Govt Patronage, Says Brahmpura

Tarn Taran – Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Khadoor Sahib MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura on Monday blamed the Aam Aadmi Party government for the devastation caused by floods in the area, alleging that illegal sand mining under state patronage was the root cause.

Brahmpura said the tragedy was not natural but the “direct result of the government’s greed and failure.” He pointed out that weakened Dhussi embankments, hollowed out by uncontrolled mining, had collapsed and led to large-scale destruction, adding that both Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Water Resources Minister Barinder Goel were equally responsible.
Calling it “criminal negligence,” Brahmpura demanded that compensation for farmers’ losses be recovered from the mining mafia and leaders who sheltered them. He sought an impartial high-level inquiry and an immediate relief package for affected farmers, including Rs 50,000 per acre for sand removal, compensation for soil fertility loss, and fresh soil provision.
