SGPC tells Sikh Sangat to follow Gurmat, refrain from offering toys in Gurdwaras

Amritsar: Following an order of the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, regarding the ban on the offering of toys at Gurdwara Sahibs by the Sangat (devotees) in the name of devotion, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has issued circular to all the Gurdwara managers under its management.

In the circular issued by the SGPC secretary to the Gurdwara managers, they have been instructed to stop offering toys, which is Manmat (personal view), against the Gurmat (teachings of Sikh Gurus) and the Maryada (conduct) of the Guru’s house.

Sharing information in this regard, the SGPC secretary Partap Singh said that at some Gurudwaras, the devotees offer toys (planes) in the name of devotion, which is not as per the Maryada. He said that an order had been issued by the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to stop such Manmat-related actions, following which; a letter has been issued to the managers of Gurdwara Sahibs under SGPC management.

Partap Singh appealed to the Sangat not to offer toys (planes) inside the Gurdwara Sahib keeping in mind the reverence of the Guru and Maryada of the Guru’s house. He also appealed to the pracharak jathas (preacher groups) to vastly propagate this order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to the masses.
