Chandigarh: The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is continuously striving to provide basic facilities and a clean, pollution-free environment to the people of the state. Taking a step forward in this direction, Local Government Minister Balkar Singh conducted a review meeting with the head office and field officials of the department regarding various issues and development works of the department at Municipal Bhawan, Sector-35, Chandigarh.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister for Local Government strongly emphasized that illegal constructions should be stopped for the planned development of the state’s cities, and cleanliness should be maintained in the urban local bodies. Under the Amrut Scheme 2.00, Swachh Bharat Mission, Punjab Urban Improvement Program Phase 1, 2, and 3, he reviewed the latest status of development works and directed the officials to complete the ongoing development works expeditiously.
Various works related to making Urban Local Bodies garbage-free, disposing of waste in a scientific manner, wastewater management, pending building plans, and pending NOCs for the regularization of plots under the Swachh Bharat Mission were discussed in detail.
The Minister for Local Government has instructed officials to utilize unused funds in various schemes for the welfare of the people by initiating new projects according to the guidelines.
The Cabinet Minister urged the officials to provide comprehensive information regarding development works related to the MLAs of their constituencies so that development can align with the needs of the state’s residents. Additionally, he emphasized that schemes related to development works should be implemented on time, and funds should be used efficiently.
The Cabinet Minister further stated that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s dream is to make the state “Rangla Punjab.” Therefore, he appealed to the officials to work diligently and support each other.
