Before Tagore Theatre event, CM Mann should explain why govt kneeled in SC on SYL issue: Jakhar

Chandigarh: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, high on power, has chosen Tagore Theatre to discuss the serious issue of Punjab’s waters, but before discussing the same, he should explain why the state govt has not argued well in the Supreme Court on the issue of SYL, why his govt chose to kneel to fulfill what interests?

Stating this, BJP state president Sunil Jakhar said that when any issue arises in Punjab, whether it is about drugs, deaths of youth due to drug overdose, illegal mining etc, the AAP-led govt leaves one or the other “shagufa” to deviate people’s attention.

Jakhar said that the people of Punjab have given a two-thirds majority to AAP, its CM is accountable to them. People ask why the promise for a drug-free-state in three months has fallen flat? Where has the loan of 50 thousand crores gone, why is illegal mining continues, you are making Punjab poor instead of Rangla Punjab.

The state BJP chief said that if CM Mann has a correct answer to give, then do it in the Vidhan Sabha session, why to do this drama. Chief Minister should maintain the dignity of the chair he occupies and use polite language.

He said that if we really want to talk about Punjab’s water and people’s issues, then let’s go to the Abohar canal tails and talk about the ground realities faced by farmers.

We should hold a meaningful discussion in the Punjab Agricultural University. But Bhagwant Mann don’t want to discuss, choses to do dramas through old profession of comedy.

Jakhar said that it seems as if Mann is intoxicated with power and has entered into an internal agreement to fulfill AAP’s political interests under the conspiracy of Punjab’s waters.

This is why, Punjab’s case was weakened in the Supreme Court and now its new Advocate General says that he will reach a conclusion through talks with the neighbouring states on the issue of water.

Slamming the CM’s utterances about the opposition parties, the Sunil Jakhar said that the situation that Chief Minister has created in Punjab needs to be taken seriously. He said that the Prime Minister is the PM of the whole country, he can give water to other states as per the feasibility, but Punjab does not have even a drop of water to waste.

He said that according to the calculations that the Chief Minister has been monitoring about the water courses, the coming time will be bad for the state because there are no water course left in Sangrur.

On the comments made by the CM Mann about late Dr. Balram Jakhar, the Punjab BJP chief that the tall parliamentarian Dr Jakhar was the Speaker of the Lok Sabha on 8 April 1982 and he was not present at that time.

The Chief Minister should check the facts first before speaking. Jakhar said that as the roots of the liquor scam are being connected from AAP central leaders to Punjab and the houses of the so-called poor seem to be in danger, people will ask for the answers, including the insistence in the court.

AAP leaders should not away from answering genuine issues and questions. Jakhar said that the efforts being made by AAP to deceive the people of Punjab will not succeed, we have to protect the waters of Punjab.
