Mohali-Students, parents, and teachers across the nation have raised their concerns due to various reasons over the cutoff date of admission to all technical courses.Federation of Self Financing Technical Institutions (FSFTI), All India have already urged the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi & University Grant Commission (UGC) to extend the cut-off dates of admission for all technical courses in all approved colleges of the Country.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, FSFTI and President, Punjab Unaided College Association (PUCA) said that this year, 23.3 Lac students were stuck because of the ongoing court case of NEET in the SupremeCourt. Due to this court case, not only 23.3 lac but other students were also kept on waiting for the final judgment as well as beginning of the counseling and because of this, students were unable to secure their seats.
KVK Rao, General Secretary, FSFTI urged the UGC & AICTE to extend the date for admissions. From current session, various countries including US, Canada, Europe, Australia etc also enforced restrictions on International student visas. Lacs of students from North India specially from Punjab, who earlier to go these countries for their further studies are not able to get a visa this year and have decided to continue their studies in their own country, India.Adv Amit Sharma, Senior Vice president, PUCA mentioned that last year, the Supreme court has also decided the cut-off date for the admissions to 30th October. Keeping the interest of the students into consideration, the cut-off date of admissions in all the courses in India should be extended to 30th October.
