Punjab Political Leaders not Focusing on the Rehabilitation of Landed Deportees from the USA-Satnam Singh Chahal

Chandigarh/Jalandhar-In a press release issued here today about landed deportees from USA Executive Director of the North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) said that It is crucial that we recognize this moment is not about political posturing or capturing media headlines, I feel deeply compelled to address a concerning matter that affects many individuals in our community. Recently, there has been an increasing trend of political leaders and bureaucrats in Punjab staging media events with the deportees who have been returned from the United States. While such gestures may appear to garner attention, they do little to address the real issues faced by these deportees.

It is crucial that we recognize this moment is not about political posturing or capturing media headlines. The focus must shift to the urgent need for rehabilitation and support for these individuals. These deportees are facing significant challenges—emotionally, socially, and financially—and they deserve practical help, not token photo ops.

I urge the political leaders and bureaucrats of Punjab to look beyond the cameras and take meaningful steps toward ensuring the well-being of these people. It is time to move away from shallow political games and put forth tangible solutions that will provide the necessary support for these individuals to rebuild their lives.  We need immediate, long-term rehabilitation programs for the deportees, including mental health support, job training, and reintegration into society. added Chahal. Govt should Provide viable employment options is essential to help these individuals regain their financial stability. Establishing social programs to help deportees reconnect with their communities and find a sense of belonging again is a need of the hour added Chahal .Offering legal assistance and educational support to help individuals understand their rights and options.

This is a time for compassionate leadership. Political figures and bureaucrats must prioritize actions over optics. The welfare of these individuals should be the primary concern, not the creation of media spectacles. It is high time that we come together to offer real solutions, and it is only through collective responsibility that we can bring meaningful change to the lives of these deportees. Let us rise above political agendas and work together to make a positive difference in the lives of these individuals who have already faced so much hardship.
