Chandigarh ( Ranjeet Singh Dhaliwal ) : Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and Member of Parliament from Ludhiana, launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, accusing it of betraying the trust of over six lakh government employees and pensioners in the state. Highlighting the plight of these individuals, Warring pointed out that the AAP government has failed to pay arrears pending since 2021, leaving families in financial turmoil. “It is shameful that the AAP government needed a High Court order to acknowledge its responsibility towards employees and pensioners,” said Warring. “Their affidavit in the court promising to clear arrears amounting to approximately ₹14,000 crore by 2029-30 is nothing short of a cruel joke. Who will wait until 2030 for what is rightfully theirs? Also, this AAP government will not remain in governance by 2030, thus showcasing how it is deflecting its responsibility. This reflects the sheer incompetence and apathy of Bhagwant Mann’s government.” The PPCC Chief contrasted this with the Congress party’s commitment to the welfare of employees and pensioners, citing the example of Himachal Pradesh, where the Congress government fulfilled its promise of reinstating the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). “While the Congress in Himachal delivered on its promise by ending the New Pension Scheme and bringing back the OPS, the AAP government in Punjab has only given hollow assurances. Employees and pensioners constitute a significant section of Punjab’s population, and they deserve better than empty words,” he asserted. Warring further criticized the AAP government for its inability to address critical issues and its repeated failure to deliver on its promises. “Bhagwant Mann and the AAP came to power claiming they would bring revolutionary change. Instead, they have betrayed the very people who trusted them. Their governance is marked by delays, deceit, and dishonesty. The promises by the government to repay the arrears in instalments are all false and a ploy to delay the process even further. The arrears must be paid in one instalment! This ‘BADLAAV’ has only ruined our state.” Reiterating the Congress party’s commitment, Warring assured employees and pensioners that the Congress government would reinstate the Old Pension Scheme in Punjab after coming to power in 2027. “We understand the importance of financial security for employees and pensioners. Just like Himachal, we will ensure the Old Pension Scheme is brought back in Punjab once the Congress is in power. The Congress does not make empty promises; we deliver,” he said. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring called upon the people of Punjab to hold the AAP government accountable for its failures and to stand united in the fight for justice and financial dignity. “Punjab deserves a government that works for its people, not one that makes them beg for what is rightfully theirs. The Congress will bring that change,” he concluded.
