Former Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla has been disqualified former from the race to be the next leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.
A joint committee met and voted on this afternoon and unanimously removed Dhalla for violating the race’s rules.
She faced 12 allegations, including accepting donations from a corporation in the form of payments to campaign staff. There were many other allegations a well.
She can appeal the decision under the party’s rules.
“I will not allow my campaign to be tarred with baseless allegations of foreign interference because of my Indian heritage and being the daughter of an immigrant,” she posted on social media platforms.
