NAPA  Applauds Punjab Police for Landmark Achievement in War Against Drugs

Milpitas(California) | Satnam Singh Chahal, Executive Director of the North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), has extended heartfelt appreciation to the Punjab Police for their extraordinary success in the ongoing war against drugs. Chahal lauded the force for achieving an impressive 89% conviction rate in NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases since March 1, 2025 — one of the highest in the country.

Out of 836 cases decided during this period, 744 resulted in convictions, with 144 major drug kingpins being sentenced to rigorous imprisonment of 10 years or more. This sends a powerful message to drug traffickers and underlines the unwavering resolve of the Punjab Police to uproot the drug menace from society.

“The fight against drugs is a fight for the future of Punjab’s youth,” said Chahal. “The dedication and relentless efforts of the Punjab Police deserve commendation. This kind of success not only reflects the force’s professionalism but also restores the faith of the people in the justice system.”

Chahal also highlighted other major achievements that demonstrate a multi-pronged strategy against drug trafficking:

  • ₹8.03 Crore in drug money seized

  • Properties worth ₹32.95 Crore frozen under NDPS Act provisions

  • 72 illegal structures linked to drug operations demolished

  • 7414 drug smugglers arrested, including 1877 big fish

“These figures are not just statistics — they represent real progress and hope for a drug-free Punjab. The community stands firmly behind the police in this crucial mission,” Chahal added. NAPA calls upon community organizations, religious institutions, and the diaspora to continue supporting such initiatives and help create awareness among the youth about the perils of drug abuse.
