Punjab Government’s Utter Failure And Now, an Attempt at Damage Control-Deep.K. Sandhu Australia

The AAP Punjab administration has failed at every level in this crisis. They failed to manage water levels. They failed to issue timely alerts. They failed in rescue and relief operations. In the vacuum created by this incompetence, it was not the government but organisations like SGPC Amritsar, various religious groups, Kisan Jathebandis, non-profit social organisations, and the people of Punjab themselves who stepped up selflessly, unitedly, and transparently.

When the government should have been coordinating and leading from the front, they were busy with photo ops, pretending everything was under control. And now, they suddenly wake up not to admit failure, not to apologise, and certainly not to support the efforts already underway. Worse, they’ve even attempted to undermine the call by Jathedar Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the “Sarkar-e-Khalsa” initiative a people-led, transparent movement by launching their own conveniently named “Sanjha Uprala.” This isn’t just shameless, it’s pathetic. And to top it all off, they’re now inviting NGOs to join their platform?

Where was this spirit of collaboration when people were drowning, starving, and losing their homes? Why weren’t government funds and machinery deployed earlier if they truly cared? This isn’t governance. It’s political insecurity, petty ego, and desperate image management. If the administration genuinely wanted to help, it should have led responsibly from the beginning not woken up only after the people filled the void. Now, instead of building parallel, hollow platforms, the government should join hands with the existing people’s movement, provide financial and logistical support, and maintain full transparency. The people of Punjab deserve better than opportunistic PR stunts.

What was stopping the government from coordinating with people’s efforts until now other than their political ego? It’s time for Punjab to wake up, ask the right questions, and stay fully aware of who is truly serving the people and who is just playing politics for credit. Deep Sandhu
