Punjab’s Youth Must Rise: Present Leadership Has Failed to Deliver Real Change

North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal has expressed deep concern over the prevailing political and social atmosphere in Punjab, stating that the state can no longer expect any meaningful change from the existing leadership. Chahal said that if one looks at the political parties of Punjab today, there are only a handful of leaders genuinely committed to the welfare and progress of the state — while the rest remain caught in power struggles and self-interest.

He appealed to the youth and student organizations participating in the Save Panjab University Morcha to take the next step and enter active politics. “Punjab today desperately needs educated, honest, and courageous youth who can fearlessly speak up for the rights and future of our state,” said Chahal. “Our history is filled with examples of young Punjabis who stood tall for justice and truth — that same spirit must be rekindled today.”

Chahal emphasized that the time has come for students and young activists to transform their movements into a political awakening, one that prioritizes education, employment, and the dignity of Punjab. He added that NAPA stands in full solidarity with the youth striving to build a better and more just future for Punjab.
