London (Mandeep Khurmi Himmatpura) A major effort is being made by Shiromani Sahityakar Shivcharan Gill Memorial Trust Southall to honor the personalities working for the betterment of Punjabi literature, culture and heritage on the soil of Britain every year. Shivcharan Gill’s wife Mrs. Dhaninder Kaur Gill, his daughter Shivdeep Kaur Dhesi and granddaughter Dr. Japinder Kaur Dhesi (OBE) and family organized this year’s honor ceremony at Heston Community Center, Hounslow. In the first part of this event, which was divided into two parts, various personalities were honored. The event began with poet Azim Shekhar inviting Mota Singh Sarai, chief servant of the European Punjabi Sath Walsall, world-renowned novelist Harjit Atwal, poets Dalvir Kaur Wolverhampton and Shivdeep Kaur Dhesi, and Deputy Mayor Councillor Shakeel Akram to preside over the event. After this, Mota Singh Sarai, novelist Shivcharan Jaggi Kussa, novelist Harjit Atwal, Dalvir Kaur, Ranjit Singh Dhir, Mandeep Khurmi Himmatpura, poet Kirpal Puni, novelist Mahinderpal Dhaliwal, poet Amandeep Singh Aman, theatre artist and director Tajinder Sindhra, Pingalwara Charitable Society Jagraj Singh Sara, Harsev Bains, Roop Davinder Kaur, Jaswinder Rattian, Manjit Singh Butter, Councilor Shakeel Akram, Councilor Raju Sansarpuri etc. praised Shivdeep Dhesi’s efforts. During her presidential speech, Shivdeep Kaur Dhesi thanked the audience and remembered the late painter Mr. Saroop Singh Ji, novelist Jaggi Kussa’s late daughter Lali Kussa and offered floral tributes. During the felicitation ceremony, Sarv Sri Mota Singh Sarai, Mr. Salim Khan Gimmi, Late Gurnam Singh Gill, Poet Kulwant Kaur Dhillon, Multifaceted Personality Jatinder Pattar, Poet Surinder Sihra, Singer Mona Singh, Daughter of World Famous Singer Channi Singh, Ajit Singh Rai were felicitated for their valuable contribution in the field of Punjabi Literature and Art, and the pandal erupted with applause. In the second part of the event, a flood of literary works flowed in the Kavi Darbar when novelist Mahinderpal Dhaliwal, as the stage manager, introduced one poet after another to the audience. During the poet’s court, Roop Davinder Kaur, Bhinder Jalalabadi, Parminder Kaur Harford, Kitty Ball, Gurmel Sangha, Rajinderjit, Jaswinder Rattian, Bittu Khangura, Amandeep Kaur, Nachhattar Bhogal, Rupinder Gill, Kulwant Kaur Dhillon, Manjit Kaur Padda, Shagufta Gimmi Lodhi, Gurnam Dhillon, Kuldeep Singh Grewal, Jatinder Pattar, Jatinder Singh, Beant Kaur, Surinder Sihra, Kirpal Puni, Bunty Uppal, Manpreet Singh Badhni, Amandeep Singh Aman, Nahar Singh Gill, Azim Shekhar, Kamalpreet Kaur, Dilraj Kaur, Mahinderpal Dhaliwal etc. enlivened the atmosphere through ghazals, poems and nazms. At this time, where the book “Alakh”, a collection of Shivcharan Gill’s writings, was launched, the ceremony of launching the Shivcharan Gill commemorative special issue of the Panj Darya newspaper was also held.
