Brahmpura emphasized that despite his earlier written communication to the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, regarding the ineffective administrative arrangements in Khadoor Sahib and adjoining border regions, and despite the Chief Minister’s assurances of immediate remedial action, the on-ground situation remains unchanged. He pointed out that, even amidst what he described as “war-like conditions,” significant laxity and shortcomings persist in the administration’s response and preparedness for his constituency.
Specifically questioning the district administration’s performance, Brahmpura demanded to know what steps have been taken to ensure residents are informed promptly in any emergency situation. He noted that this lack of timely and essential information is causing severe hardships for border residents and the general population alike.
He also sharply criticized the role of the two ministers deputed by the Punjab Government to the district, alleging that their activities have amounted to little more than completing formalities and posing for photographs, rather than providing real assistance or addressing fundamental issues—a situation he called “disappointing and unfortunate.”
While acknowledging that the Punjab Chief Minister’s efforts to secure special packages and allowances from the Central Government for border areas and their employees might be justified, MBrahmpura said it is falling short where it matters most. He stated that the local district administration—directly under the state government—has failed to provide the people with even the most basic facilities and timely information.
He further highlighted that, despite numerous high-level meetings and ongoing demands from the Centre, essential messages regarding school and college holidays, daily amenities, or other crucial government updates are not reaching the residents of border areas such as Khadoor Sahib on time. “Even in today’s digital age, there is no effective digital platform at the district level to instantly alert residents. This situation raises serious questions about the commitment of both the district administration and the state government to the welfare of the people,” he said.
Brahmpura appealed to the Punjab Government to take the concerns of Khadoor Sahib, and especially the border belt residents, seriously. He demanded immediate improvements in the dissemination of public information and a robust state of preparedness for any potential emergency situation.
He further stated, “Although there is currently a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, which is a positive sign, the proximity of our area to the international border makes it imperative that the administration always maintains strict and effective arrangements so that any circumstance can be handled quickly and residents are ensured security and accurate information.”
Prominent personalities from the area joined former MLA Brahmpura at the event, including Master Gurnam Singh Dhunn, Master Dalbir Singh Chamba, Ajit Pal Singh Bittu (former Sarpanch, Village Chamba Kalan), and others.
