Tarn Taran – Shiromani Akali Dal Vice President, Khadoor Sahib constituency in-charge and former MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura today while talking to the media in the historic town of Khadoor Sahib of his constituency launched a sharp verbal attack on the AAP government of Punjab and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann along with Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar. He said that the AAP government is only playing tricks in the name of campaign against drugs and is fooling the people of the state and the entire country by wasting the government exchequer on advertisements, while the ground reality is completely opposite and horrifying.

Mr. Brahmpura said that the situation in the Lok Sabha constituency of Khadoor Sahib has gone from bad to worse, where drugs are being sold openly and fearlessly. He said, “On one hand, the government minister, Laljit Singh Bhullar, is going to the villages and doing the work of cleaning the houses of drug addicts and claiming that there is a huge response from the people, but the reality is that people are living in an atmosphere of fear and panic. The morale of drug smugglers is high and the youth is being destroyed. He said that “Recently, a 25-year-old youth died of drug overdose in village Varana of Khadoor Sahib sub-division, whose video went viral on social media, in which the parents were lamenting. This is not an isolated incident, there have been many such deaths which are a living proof of government negligence.

Mr. Brahmpura termed the government’s claims as a bundle of lies and said, “The government says that it is making efforts for the rehabilitation of people who have given up drugs, but the truth is that the supply line of drugs is not being broken. In the border areas, there is a stockpile of weapons and consignments of drugs are being smuggled across the border. Recently, the Amritsar Police Commissionerate busted a Pakistan-based drug group and recovered 10 kg of heroin, which shows that drugs are continuously coming from across the border. In such a situation, it is shameful for the government to only do propaganda instead of providing basic facilities. In fact, the ‘AAP’ government wants to divert the attention of the people from its failures.

He took a strong swipe at Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and said, “The Chief Minister and his ministers are making false statements just to gain false fame. If the government was truly sincere, then despite the claims of arresting drug smugglers and demolishing their properties, how is the drug reaching every village, every street of Khadoor Sahib? The drug de-addiction tours are just a political stunt, while the real need is to break the drug supply chain and control the big crocodiles, in which this government has failed miserably.”

Mr. Brahmpura said that the ‘AAP’ government has run away from the promises made to the people of Punjab and is now only doing politics of lies and deceit. He said that the Shiromani Akali Dal will continue to raise its voice on the real issues of the people of Punjab and will firmly oppose the ‘AAP’ government’s anti-people policies and failed administration.
