Milpitas(California) —The North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) strongly condemns the recent incident involving the beadbi (sacrilege) of pictures of Guru Sahib in Amritsar, which has caused immense pain and outrage among the global Sikh community. Such shameful acts are a direct assault on the religious sentiments of millions of Sikhs and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.
In a statement issued today, Satnam Singh Chahal, Executive Director of NAPA, expressed deep anguish and concern over the blatant disrespect shown towards the sacred images of the Gurus. “This is not just a case of insensitivity—it is a grave violation of the values, reverence, and deep spiritual connection Sikhs hold with their Gurus. Any form of beadbi is an unforgivable offense that must be addressed with the utmost seriousness,” said Chahal.
NAPA calls upon the Punjab government and responsible authorities to immediately investigate this incident, identify and take strict legal action against those responsible, and ensure that such occurrences are prevented in the future. Furthermore, NAPA urges that any public use or portrayal of Sikh religious images or symbols must be done with proper consultation with respected Sikh bodies such as the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
Satnam Singh Chahal emphasized that the sanctity of Sikh religious identity must be preserved at all costs. “The Sikh community worldwide is watching, and we stand united in demanding justice and respect for our faith. We will not remain silent in the face of such violations.”
NAPA reiterates its commitment to defending Sikh values, promoting interfaith respect, and working tirelessly to protect the dignity of our rich spiritual heritage.
