Stronger Powers for Police to Tackle Vehicle-Related Anti-Social Behavior Welcomed-Preet Kaur Gill MP

London-“I welcome the Government’s decision to grant police forces stronger powers to seize and destroy vehicles linked to anti-social behaviour within 48 hours. This was disclosed here by Preet Kaur Gill MP while talking with selected media personnel. She said that our communities have suffered due to the limitations of the existing 14-day waiting period, which has allowed offenders to reclaim their vehicles and continue wreaking havoc in our neighbourhoods. These delays have reduced the deterrent effect of enforcement and have left residents feeling frustrated and powerless.

Communities in Quinton and Bartley Green know this all too well. For years, families have had to endure the persistent menace of street racers and off-road bikers blighting our roads, parks, and green spaces—often at great risk to themselves and others. The noise, disruption, and danger caused by these individuals have been a source of deep concern, and I have consistently raised this issue on behalf of constituents with local police and government ministers.

This announcement marks a step in the right direction. Empowering our police with the tools they need to respond swiftly and decisively sends a strong message: anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. I will continue to work with West Midlands Police and local partners to ensure that these powers are used effectively and that residents feel safer and more secure in their communities. Every resident deserves to live in a neighborhood that is peaceful, safe, and respectful. Today’s move is progress towards that goal—and a victory for the people who have campaigned tirelessly for change.”
