Chowk Mehta – The dharna which was to be held at the residence of Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal from June 11 to Badal village for the restoration of the deposed Jathedars of the three Takht Sahibans under the leadership of Saint Gyani Harnam Singh Khalsa, the head of Damdami Taksal and the president of Sant Samaj, has been postponed. This decision was taken after Shiromani Committee Chairman Harjinder Singh Dhami, who was leading a delegation of Shiromani Committee who reached Gurdwara Gurdarshan Prakash Mehta, headquarter of Damdami Mint, assured Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa that the issue of Jathedars would be resolved soon in the near future.
Sant Harnam Singh Khayla said that after the ultimatum given to the Shiromani Committee to reinstate the arbitrarily removed Jathedars, as per the decision taken on April 27, the Sikh Jatha had to hold a protest in front of the house of Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Ji Badal in Gaon Badal. Because it becomes the responsibility of Shiromani Akali Dal President to play his role in resolving the issues of Sikhs without delay by taking everyone’s opinion.
So everyone had planned that a dharna would be held on June 11 and we were ready to fight for a long time to resolve this issue. But Harjinder Singh Dhami, President of Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee and the personalities who came with him have discussed that efforts will be made to end the dilemma created in the community as soon as possible by finding a common solution to the issue of Singh Sahibans. The Shiromani Committee leaders have given us confidence. It is in this belief that I appeal to the entire Sikh Sangat and Saints, the Nihang Singh Sangathan that the Rosh Dharna be postponed. I request the Shiromani Committee that Singh Sahibans are always installed with respect and farewelled with respect. Therefore, this solution should be worked out as soon as possible keeping in mind the sentiments of the entire community.
Jathedars should be established universally. Shiromani Committee has sought time. It is our duty to give time. Because this organization, the Shiromani Committee, is the representative organization of Sikhs. This great organization has come to us. Respected personalities have also told us with great confidence that there should be no conflict between us, Shiromani Akali Dal, Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee, Taksal Nihang Singh organizations and Sant Samaj. He has given us the confidence to resolve the issues that led to the conflict. We also hope that this issue will be resolved soon. It should be remembered that the decision to hold a dharna in Badal village was taken in a meeting of the selected leaders of the Sant Samaj who propagate Gurmat Siddhant under the leadership of Sant Samaj and the head of Damdami Taksal Sant Gyani Harnam Singh Khalsa, which was held on April 27 at Damdami Taksal Headquarters Gurdwara Gurdarshan Prakash Mehta Chowk. All the great men of the Sant Samaj, Sikh Sangats and organizations present on this occasion strongly criticized and expressed strong opposition to the non-fulfillment of the promise given by the Shiromani Committee to the Sant Samaj to restore the Jathedars of the thrones by April 15. This assurance was given by the SGPC during the dharna held by the Sant Samaj on March 28 at Shri Teja Singh Samudri Hall, Shri Amritsar Sahib, while the Sangat demanded that Jathedar Singh Gyani Raghbir Singh, Singh Sahib Gyani Sultan Singh and Singh Sahib Gyani Harpreet Singh Ji of Takht Sahibs be reinstated to their posts. In this regard, he had given time till April 15 to SGPC President and SGPC Executive Committee. The first batch was to go to Badal village on June 11 because the demand was not accepted. Whereas from July the batch had to go on the first Sunday of every month. According to Damdami Taksal, the Panthak Samagam held at Sri Anandpur Sahib on May 13 for undermining Sikh principles and instilling arrogance and dogmatism by a particular person has already canceled these appointments.
