London, UK – : Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, Member of Parliament for Slough and a prominent member of the UK Parliament’s Defence Select Committee, has reiterated his strong commitment to supporting the nation’s Armed Forces community.
In a recent update shared on social media, Dhesi emphasised the importance of the Armed Forces Covenant and pledged to ensure that no service member, veteran, or their family is left behind. “Improving lives of our Armed Forces community is a promise I’m committed to,” he stated.
Dhesi also engaged in discussions with key stakeholders including veteran campaigner Steve Yemm, as well as colleagues from the Commons Defence Committee, about the findings of their latest report. The report highlights serious gaps in support systems and services for those who have served in uniform, particularly around housing, mental health care, and access to employment.
Calling for stronger, lasting support, Dhesi urged the government to take urgent action to implement the committee’s recommendations. “It’s not just about promises – it’s about meaningful action. Our veterans deserve more than just gratitude; they deserve real, tangible support,” he said.
The report comes at a time when many across the UK Armed Forces community continue to face challenges in accessing consistent and fair treatment after their service, despite years of advocacy and pledges made under the Armed Forces Covenant. Dhesi’s ongoing efforts underline a growing call within Parliament for policy reforms and increased accountability.
The MP’s commitment is being welcomed by veterans’ groups and community advocates who hope that Parliament will now take bolder steps to honor the sacrifices of those who have served.
