In a landmark announcement during President Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom, the UK and the US have unveiled an unprecedented transatlantic partnership focused on driving innovation in artificial intelligence and quantum technologies. The UK-US Tech Prosperity Deal, valued at over £150 billion, is set to accelerate breakthroughs in critical areas such as drug discovery, cancer treatment, and other life-saving medical advancements.
The agreement secures massive investment from leading US technology firms into the UK’s AI and tech infrastructure, paving the way for joint research programmes, dataset sharing, and fast-tracked projects. Officials have described the deal as a “vote of confidence” in Britain’s booming technology sector, with projections that it will generate 7,600 high-quality jobs and further strengthen the country’s reputation as a global leader in science and innovation.
Beyond healthcare and technology, the deal also emphasizes clean, domestic nuclear energy, with significant investment aimed at boosting energy security, stabilising supply, and creating additional highly skilled employment opportunities.
Welcoming the deal, Preet Kaur Gill MP highlighted its significance for both economic growth and public wellbeing. “This partnership represents serious diplomacy in action,” she said, “delivering growth, security, and opportunity for communities across the UK.”
