Brampton Reports 47 Daily Crashes, Over 16,000 Collisions in 2024 So Far

Brampton has seen a staggering rise in road collisions, with an average of 47 crashes reported daily, amounting to over 16,000 incidents in 2024 alone. Regional Councillor Rowena Santos shared these alarming statistics on social media, urging drivers to prioritize safety and reduce aggressive driving behaviors. The surge in accidents has not only caused significant trauma and injuries but also increased insurance premiums and vehicle repair costs for residents. To address the issue, Brampton’s City Council has implemented several measures, including the installation of Ontario’s largest deployment of automated speed enforcement cameras and the designation of 180 community safety zones with higher fines for speeding. These initiatives are part of the city’s Vision Zero framework, which aims to eliminate traffic-related fatalities and severe injuries.
