Olympian Sucha Singh received Arjana Award

Jalandhar-Asian Games record holder Athelete and Chairman of Great Sports Cultural Club (India) Olympian Sucha Singh was honored with Lifetime Achievement “Arjuna Award” at Rashtrapati Bhavan Delhi today 17th January. It is worth mentioning that this award has been given to him after nearly 50 years of dedication.

& Record holder Athelete Sucha Singh, in the 4x400m relay of the 6th Asian Games held at Bangkok in 1970 He won a silver medal and a bronze medal in the 400m freestyle race. After which he made the country and Punjab proud by winning the silver medal in the 4×400 meters relay race in the 7th Asian Games held at Tehran (Iran).

In 1973, India participated in the first Asian Athletic Championship held in Manila, Philippines and then in the second Asian Athletic Championship in Seoul (South Korea) in 1975, the relay team set a new record of 3:08:2 minutes in the 4x400m relay race. Got Gold Medal.

The then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhiji also congratulated the winning team.
Apart from these, Sucha Singh’s many other international level
there are achievements, with which he raised the pride of the country by hoisting the tricolor of the country in 14 different countries.

Although the governments of the time to time, the highest sports award, the Arjuna Award, was not awarded.
But today, after nearly five decades, we are whole heartedly thankful to the central government for giving the award of the Lifetime Achievement “Arjuna Award” to revive the bitter-sweet memories of Olympian Sucha Singh .
