UK Government’s additional £25 million for Hospice provides huge relief for families – MP Preet Kaur Gill

London-UK MP Preet Kaur Gill has welcomed the Government’s confirmation of an additional £25 million in funding dedicated to supporting children and adult hospices across the United Kingdom. This new investment will directly benefit facilities nationwide, including Acorn’s Children’s Hospice in Birmingham, which serves families across the West Midlands.

The newly announced funding has been earmarked for urgent building repairs, upgraded patient facilities, new family accommodation rooms, improved outdoor spaces, and vital IT infrastructure enhancements. With this step, the total financial support allocated to hospices across England has now reached a remarkable £125 million over the last two financial years—the largest funding commitment to the sector in a generation.

This extra boost builds on the Government’s earlier pledge of an £80 million multi-year settlement for children’s hospices across England, spread over three years. The goal is to provide long-term stability for organisations that deliver essential care and emotional support to seriously ill children, adults, and their families.

MP Preet Kaur Gill stated that this investment will make a real difference for hospices working tirelessly to support vulnerable families, especially during times of emotional and medical crisis. According to recent coverage, hospices across the West Midlands alone are set to receive £2.2 million for much-needed
