Govt urged to take immediate action against the perpetrators who attacked NRI Woman

A prominent community organisation has spoken out forcefully following a brazen attack on a young woman in Dehlon, calling on local authorities to take immediate action against the perpetrators responsible for what it described as a cowardly and unprovoked assault.
Satnam Singh Chahal, Executive Director of the North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), issued a formal statement condemning the incident in which Harjind Kaur — a young woman who recently arrived from Australia — was targeted by individuals who threw eggs at her vehicle and damaged her windshield.
“We are deeply disturbed by the cowardly and unprovoked attack on Ms. Harjind Kaur in Dehlon today,” Chahal said. “This act of violence is completely unacceptable and highlights the need for greater awareness and protection for individuals in our communities.”
According to the statement, Kaur successfully defended herself using her kirpan, compelling the attackers to flee the scene. Chahal praised her composure under pressure, calling her response “exemplary.”
“We commend Ms Kaur for her courage, presence of mind, and self-defence, which compelled the attackers to flee,” he said. “Her bravery in confronting such intimidation serves as a reminder that no one should live in fear of harassment or violence.”
NAPA is urging law enforcement to move swiftly in identifying and prosecuting those responsible, warning that incidents of this nature undermine the broader social fabric.
“It is essential that justice is delivered swiftly to ensure the safety and dignity of every citizen,” Chahal added.
