Bank Holidays: List of Upcoming Closures for Banks in September 2023 Released
New Delhi: As September approaches, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has unveiled a detailed list of bank holidays for the month, aiding individuals in their financial planning. With a total of 16 scheduled closure days, the upcoming month promises both time for relaxation and adherence to significant cultural observances.
Significantly, it is of utmost importance to know the Bank Holidays as September 30 is the last day to exchange or deposit the withdrawn Rs 2,000 banknotes.
September 3: Banks will remain closed nationwide, observing Sunday.
September 6: In the Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Patna zones, banks will be closed for Krishna Janmashtami.
September 7: Bank holidays will be observed in zones including Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Telangana, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Lucknow, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong, Shimla, and Srinagar, marking Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
September 9: The second Saturday will bring a bank holiday.
September 10: Once again, a nationwide closure will occur due to Sunday.
September 17: Sunday will be observed as a holiday.
September 18: In the Bengaluru and Telangana zones, banks will close for Vinayaka Chaturthi.
September 19: Ganesh Chaturthi will prompt closures in Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Panaji zones.
September 20: Kochi and Bhubaneswar zones will observe a holiday for Ganesh Chaturthi.
September 22: On the occasion of Shri Narayan Guru Samadhi, banks in Kochi, Panaji, and Trivandrum zones will remain closed.
September 23: The fourth Saturday of the month will be observed as a bank holiday nationwide.
September 24: Sunday will bring another nationwide bank closure.
September 25: In the Guwahati zone, banks will remain closed for Shrimant Sankardev Jayanti.
September 27: Milad-e-Sharif (Prophet Muhammad’s birthday) will prompt closures in Jammu, Kochi, Srinagar, and Trivandrum zones.
September 28: Eid-e-Milad will lead to bank closures in Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Belapur, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Telangana, Imphal, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Raipur, and Ranchi zones.
September 29: The occasion of Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi will prompt closures in the Gangtok, Jammu, and Srinagar zones.
