Too little too late: Majithia on dismissal of Inspector Navdeep Singh

Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal senior leader and former Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia today termed dismissal of Inspector Navdeep Singh accused in suicide case of two brothers Manavjit Singh Dhillon and Jashanjit Singh Dhillon as too little too late although he termed it a step in right direction but too late.

In a statement released here today, Mr. Majithia said that action against Inspector Navdeep Singh has been taken after the issue was raised by opposition parties and public pressure on police and after the family refused to cremate Jashanjit Singh’s body. He said that action of SHO has resulted in total devastation of the family and besides mother and father the wives of brothers are suffering only because of him. He also asked AAP government can dismissal compensate these families?

He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP government miserably failed to timely intervene in the matter. He said that had Chief Minister would have intervened lives of both brothers could have been saved. He said that it was most shameful to see that police even failed to provide swimmers/divers to locate bodies of both brothers. He said that 21 days have passed since the incident when Manavjit was humiliated and his turban was tossed in police station and action against SHO has been taken now.

He said that it was a matter of investigation that how Inspector Navdeep Singh has been posted in an important city like Jalandhar when he had a shady past and he was repeatedly been suspended where ever he was posted. He said that he was suspended in Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala as well as at many other places where he was posted.

He said that though action against Inspector Navdeep Singh has been taken but action against lady constable Jagjit kaur and ASI Balwinder kumar are still awaited.

Mr. Majithia also appealed to Chief Minister to ensure that no such criminal person in posted in any police station of the state so as to save repetitions of such embarrassing situations.

Meanwhile Family and Friends of Jashanjit Singh Dhillon and Manavjit Singh Dhillon have demanded that AAP MLA Raman Arora was instrumental in posting him as SHO at Jalandhar and also protected him. They said that thorough investigation against him should also be conducted that on which considerations he recommended posting of such a man who was a criminal mind set person and action should also be initiated against him also.
