AMLOH: The Prolonged dispute between students of Desh Bhagat University’s nursing college and the university administration has seen a significant development with the intervention of Constituency MLA Gurinder Singh Ghari. Bringing a copy of the Punjab government’s directive, he conveyed to the students that the government has ordered the closure of the nursing college and the confiscation of 5 crores in security funds from Desh Bhagat University. The students will be shifted to another college, and their educational expenses during the transition will be covered by the university.

Expressing determination to safeguard the students’ interests, the MLA emphasized that no student would be left disadvantaged. He underscored that the Punjab government has taken stern action against the fraudulent activities of Desh Bhagat University, filing a complaint against the chancellor and other staff members.

The Nursing Students had previously raised concerns regarding the university’s lack of recognition by the Nursing Council of India. The Punjab Nursing Council accredits only 60 seats, while the university had admitted over 150 students. Furthermore, they alleged that after completing their courses, they were denied degrees, putting their future at risk.
