BANGALORE: In Response to the Karnataka government’s decision to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, farmers and various pro-farmer and pro-Kannada groups have jointly declared a ‘Bangalore Bandh’ on September 29. Leading the movement, renowned pro-Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj has announced a comprehensive Karnataka bandh on the same day, aiming to voice their concerns and demand government intervention.

Vatal Nagaraj, addressing the media, emphasized that the bandh has been initiated under the banner of Kannada Sangh, with meticulous plans for a statewide shutdown on September 29. The movement has garnered immense support from more than a thousand organizations spanning Karnataka. Notable pro-Kannada figures like Karave Shivarame Gowda and Praveen Shetty have also pledged their support to the cause.

While the city ensures essential services remain functional, including hospitals, nursing homes, pharmacies, government offices, banks, and metros, other sectors will participate in the bandh. Commercial establishments, malls, industries, online transportation services, street vendors, hotels, restaurants, theatres, and multiplexes will remain closed. Additionally, schools, colleges, IT companies, and film chambers are urged to observe a holiday in solidarity with the bandh.
