Kotkapura Firing Case: Anticipatory Bail Granted to Police Personnel Implicated in the Incident

FARIDKOT: In the aftermath of the Kotkapura shooting incident, the legal process takes a turn as former Director General of Police (DGP) and a suspended Inspector General (IG) have granted anticipatory bail to prevent their arrest in connection with the case. Sumedh Saini, the ex-DGP, and Paramraj Singh Umranangal, a suspended IG, along with former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sukhminder Singh Mann, have applied for anticipatory bail in response to their nomination as accused in the unfortunate event.

The application for anticipatory bail was presented before Additional Sessions Judge Rajiv Kalra in Faridkot. After considering the arguments put forth by both parties, the judge granted them anticipatory bail, allowing them to evade arrest for the time being.

In the ongoing investigation of the Kotkapura incident, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Yadav has been diligently probing the matter. Recently, the SIT submitted the fourth supplemental challan related to the incident, introducing sections 118 and 119. In light of these developments, the accused individuals filed for anticipatory bail to avoid arrest until the case reaches a resolution.
