Chandigarh: In a significant development, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the provision of 37,100 government jobs to the youth within the short span of 18 months since assuming office. The announcement was made during a function organized to distribute appointment letters to 304 new recruits in the Home, Transport, and Revenue departments.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mann expressed his congratulations to the newly inducted members of the state government family, emphasizing the historic nature of their entry through competitive exams. He conveyed best wishes for their journey in public service, highlighting the commitment of the state government to modernize the police force on scientific lines.

Mann underscored the challenges faced by the police force in the changing scenario and emphasized the need for modernization to effectively combat evolving threats. He also announced the launch of the Sadak Surakhya Force, a specialized unit aimed at reducing the fatality rate from road accidents and improving traffic management in the state.

Proudly sharing the regularization of services for 12,710 teachers by eliminating the contractual status, Chief Minister Mann outlined the benefits, including annual salary increments and holidays, that these teachers would now receive. He assured that similar actions for the regularization of more employees were underway.

Addressing concerns about nepotism and corruption in previous governments, Mann asserted that his government had curbed such practices, ensuring that youth secure jobs based on merit and competency. He claimed that this transparent and merit-based recruitment process had led to reverse migration, with youth returning to the state for government jobs.

Looking ahead, Chief Minister Mann announced the opening of eight hi-tech centers to provide quality training for competitive exams, with a focus on UPSC exams. The goal is to empower youth to attain high-ranking positions in the state and country.

In a call to the newly appointed recruits, Mann urged them to utilize their positions for the welfare of the people and justice rather than harassment. He reiterated the government’s commitment to the well-being of the people and called on the youth to support his vision for a prosperous and vibrant Punjab.

The event was attended by Cabinet Ministers Brahm Shanker Jimpa and Laljit Singh Bhullar, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, Financial Commissioner KAP Sinha, Secretary Home Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Secretary Transport DS Sandhawalia, and other dignitaries.
