MLA Pargat Singh Seeks High-Level Probe into Baba Farid University Irregularities

MLA Pargat Singh had conversation with university staff including department Minister

Faridkot: Congress MLA and senior Punjab politician Pargat Singh has called for an impartial, high-level inquiry into alleged irregularities and malpractices at Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, during his visit to the university.Singh said he met newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajinder Bansal and discussed concerns relating to the functioning of the university over the past several years. He also toured the university campus and gathered information about various issues being raised in connection with its administration.

According to Singh, serious allegations have surfaced in recent years involving crore-rupee tender scams, paper leaks and irregularities in recruitment. He stressed that these allegations should not be treated lightly and require a comprehensive examination by an independent and competent authority.Calling for a high-level probe, Singh said that the objective should be to establish the facts, fix responsibility wherever wrongdoing is established and ensure that the university’s affairs are conducted transparently.

He emphasised that transparency and accountability are essential in the larger interests of students, faculty members and the people of Punjab. The demand comes at a time when the university has a new Vice-Chancellor, providing an opportunity, Singh suggested, to examine past decisions and strengthen institutional systems going forward.

Any inquiry into the allegations would need to establish the facts through examination of tender records, recruitment processes, examination procedures and other relevant documents before responsibility can be determined. The university authorities have yet to publicly respond in detail to all of the allegations raised by Singh.
