Amritsar: A major drinking-water infrastructure project covering 160 villages across three blocks is nearing completion, with authorities working to resolve technical issues before the system becomes operational.Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla inspected the ongoing water treatment project at Kaddowali near Majjupura in the Ajnala area of Amritsar and reviewed the progress of the work.According to Aujla, the project involves the laying of nearly 285 kilometres of pipeline, linking villages across the three blocks with the proposed water supply network. A substantial portion of the infrastructure has already been completed, while work is continuing on pending technical issues.
The project is aimed at providing residents with access to clean and safe drinking water, an issue of particular importance in rural areas where the availability and quality of water can directly affect public health and daily life.During the inspection, Aujla said efforts were being made to address the remaining technical problems so that water supply could begin at the earliest possible opportunity.
He also urged village representatives to make use of the facility for free testing of water samples, stressing the importance of checking water quality before regular supply begins.Residents who face problems relating to water supply, pipelines or water quality have also been encouraged to approach Aujla’s office. He said he would take up such complaints with the concerned departments and authorities.
The project has therefore entered an important stage, with the focus now shifting from construction to resolving technical issues and ensuring that the completed network can deliver reliable and safe drinking water to the villages it is intended to serve.For residents, the real measure of the project will ultimately be when the extensive pipeline network translates into regular, safe and dependable drinking-water supply at their homes.
