Chandigarh/Tarn Taran – In a significant political development in Punjab, particularly in the Khadoor Sahib constituency of the Majha region, former MLA and heir to the Taksali political legacy, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, formally joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The induction ceremony took place at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Chandigarh, with the special presence of the CM’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Rajbir Singh Ghuman.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann fondly remembered the late Jathedar Ranjit Singh Brahmpura—a senior Akali stalwart, former Cabinet Minister, and former Member of Parliament—with immense warmth and deep respect. The Chief Minister stated that Jathedar Sahib’s immense contributions to Punjab and Panthic politics can never be forgotten.
Addressing the media and the people of his constituency, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura clarified his political move, stating, “I have not joined the Aam Aadmi Party today out of any greed for a position or power. My sole objective is to selflessly serve the common people of my area and work dedicatedly for the development of my constituency.”
Praising the pro-people decisions of the state government, Brahmpura said he was deeply influenced by the ‘Satkaar Act’ introduced by the Punjab government to prevent incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, as well as the decisive war waged against the drug menace that has been ruining Punjab’s youth. He emphasized that Punjab currently needs honest and courageous leadership like that of Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann, who are actively breaking the backbone of the mafia at the grassroots level.
Remembering his father, the late Jathedar Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, he emotionally expressed, “My father spent his entire life serving the Panth, Punjab, and Punjabiyat as a humble Taksali leader on the soil of Majha. It was due to his selfless service and sacrifices that the public bestowed upon him the title of ‘Majhe Da Jarnail’ (General of Majha). Today, I assure the people of Punjab that, following in my father’s footsteps, I will work day and night as part of CM Bhagwant Mann’s team for the betterment of Punjab and the people of my region.”
Ravinder Singh Brahmpura was accompanied by a large convoy of supporters and local leaders who also joined the party. Prominent among them were his son and Jathedar Brahmpura’s grandson, Kanwardeep Singh Brahmpura, Amrik Singh (Sarpanch, Chohla Sahib), Harjinder Singh Badshah, Director Balbir Singh Balli, Jatinder Singh Kairon, Fateh (Pavi Ghuman), Parminder Singh Kairon (Block Samiti Member), Gurbhej Singh Kairon, Lavpreet Singh Kairon, Baljinder Singh Gohalwar, Gauravdeep Singh Khaira, Jagmeet Hundal, and Gurpreet Singh.
This massive induction has significantly strengthened AAP’s political base in the Majha region. Furthermore, the aggressive campaign waged by Brahmpura against local drug smugglers has now received the direct backing of the state government machinery. -(END) –
