Advocate Harbir Singh Raises Questions Over Allegations in Bhagwant Mann Video Controversy

Chandigarh-Punjab-based advocate Harbir Singh has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged video and forensic report linked to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, urging the public to examine the claims with caution and logic rather than emotion.

In a post on X, Singh asked a series of questions challenging the narrative that has emerged around the controversy. He argued that it appears unlikely for a sitting Chief Minister to openly direct a police officer to another state governed by a rival political party for the purpose of obtaining a fake forensic report.

Singh further questioned whether such sensitive instructions would realistically be communicated through WhatsApp and whether an alleged payment of ₹10 lakh would be made in a manner that leaves a clear evidentiary trail.

“Would anyone holding the highest office in the state do all this so openly and recklessly?” Singh asked, suggesting that the allegations require careful scrutiny before being accepted as fact.

The advocate also warned against allowing personal rivalries and political animosity to cloud judgment. “Sometimes, in a battle of egos, malice takes the front seat,” he wrote, indicating that political motivations may be influencing the public debate.

The remarks come amid intense political exchanges in Punjab, where opposition parties and government supporters continue to trade allegations over the authenticity of the video and related claims. The controversy has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with supporters and critics presenting competing versions of events.

As the debate continues, Singh’s intervention highlights the need for a transparent investigation and reliance on verifiable evidence rather than speculation. Political observers note that the issue is likely to remain a subject of discussion as Punjab moves closer to the 2027 Assembly elections.

Whether the allegations ultimately stand up to scrutiny will depend on the findings of investigative agencies and the evidence presented before the public. Until then, the controversy remains a politically charged issue in Punjab’s evolving political landscape.
