Brahmpura Calls on AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi; Strategic Deliberations Spark Major Political Buzz in Majha

Tarn Taran  : Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura today held a significant meeting with the party’s National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, at his residence in New Delhi. Marking his first formal interaction with the AAP Supremo since joining the party fold, the high-level meeting involved extensive deliberations on key political developments and future dynamics in Punjab. Chandni Chowk MLA Punardeep Sawhney and Brahmpura’s son, Kanwardeep Singh Brahmpura, were also present during the meeting.

During the interaction, Arvind Kejriwal fondly recalled the monumental sacrifices made for Punjab by the late Taksali stalwart Jathedar Ranjit Singh Brahmpura—widely revered as the ‘Majhe Da Jarnail’ (General of Majha). Kejriwal remarked that Jathedar Brahmpura was a true Taksali Akali leader who always held a genuine, unwavering concern for the Panth, Punjab, and Punjabiyat.
Pertinently, Jathedar Brahmpura endured over 12 years of rigorous imprisonment under stringent laws including the NSA, TADA, and ESMA while championing the rights of Punjab. His political struggle holds exceptionally deep historical roots in this belt. Back in 1961-62, when Akali leader Jathedar Mohan Singh Tur was arrested for criticizing the then Chief Minister Partap Singh Kairon and subsequently contested the election against Kairon from behind bars, Jathedar Brahmpura stood firmly by his side. During that era, before Patti was carved out as a separate constituency and the belt fell under the Naushera Pannuan assembly segment, Jathedar Brahmpura contested several elections from the area. In 1977, he was elected as an MLA for the first time, handing a historic political defeat to the formidable Kairon family. He went on to serve four terms as an MLA and represented the region as a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from 2014 to 2019.
Speaking after the meeting, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura reiterated his commitment to the party, stating, “Following the footsteps of our historical legacy, I will faithfully discharge whatever responsibility the party entrusts to me as a true and dedicated soldier of the Aam Aadmi Party.”
In political circles, profound strategic meanings are being decoded from this crucial Delhi meeting. Emerging signals from the power corridors strongly indicate that Ravinder Singh Brahmpura is poised to play a highly central and decisive role on the political pitch of the Majha region in the coming days. Although the Brahmpura family has been operating primarily from the Khadoor Sahib constituency in recent times, following today’s deliberations in Delhi, speculation is rife that behind-the-scenes strategic planning is at its peak to channel the family’s traditional Panthic stronghold and vast experience back into their original political heartland—the Patti-Naushera Pannuan belt—from where Jathedar Brahmpura first launched his political ascent by dismantling the Kairon bastion. This high-profile political engagement has signaled a major tectonic shift in the political arena of Tarn Taran district. – (Press Release Ends) –
