Amritsar: Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has raised serious questions over the killing of social media influencer and makeup artist Mad Sandhu on Loharka Road, demanding the immediate arrest of the assailants and a probe into whether earlier threats to the victim were adequately acted upon.
Mad Sandhu, whose real name was Madhusudan, was shot by two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants at around 6 pm on Saturday on Loharka Road. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Police have launched an investigation, examined CCTV footage and said they have leads that could help identify the attackers. The motive behind the killing has not yet been established.
Reacting to the incident, Aujla said the killing was “not just Mad Sandhu’s murder, but a murder of law and order.” He alleged that Sandhu had repeatedly faced threats and that concerns about his safety had not received the seriousness they deserved.
Aujla demanded swift arrests, a fair investigation and accountability regarding any previous police inaction. He said the investigation should establish not only who carried out the shooting, but also whether any earlier complaints or warnings concerning Sandhu had been received and what action, if any, was taken.
The MP also drew attention to the security situation in the Loharka Road area. He called for a police station, adequate CCTV coverage, streetlights and stronger security arrangements, pointing to the large population and the presence of schools in the area.
Police officials have said multiple teams are working on the case and that CCTV footage is being examined. Two empty shells were reportedly recovered from the scene, while investigators are pursuing different angles to determine the motive.
Sandhu had previously faced controversy over his social-media content and had reportedly received a warning from a Nihang Sikh in connection with some of his videos. However, there is currently no official confirmation that the earlier controversy was connected to the murder, and police are investigating the case from multiple angles.
Aujla’s demands have put renewed focus on the broader questions of public safety in the Loharka Road area, including whether existing policing and surveillance infrastructure is adequate for its growing population.
The MP has called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice and for any shortcomings in the handling of prior threats to be examined through a transparent investigation.
