Pratap Singh Bajwa’s remarks in Vidhan Sabha are against Sikh sentiments – apologize immediately”: Prof. Khyala

Amritsar-The remark made by Leader of Opposition and senior Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa in the Punjab Assembly today while addressing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann that “Aapke bajje honge 12, hamare nahin”, the context in which this comment was made, is an insult to the great sacrifices and martyrdoms of the Sikhs. This statement deeply hurts Sikh sentiments. These words are not only insensitive, but also expose the Congress mentality of denying the legacy of Sikh valor and martyrdom from a historical perspective.
Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa, who himself understands and knows the Sikh heritage well, should immediately apologize to the entire Sikh panth for his comment.
BJP Punjab Spokesperson Prof. Sarchand Singh Khayala said that this is a serious and sensitive issue, which is related to Sikh history and pride.
He said that the fact that “Sikhon ke 12 बाजना” is often presented as a joke or in a negative form is completely wrong. In fact, the reference to “12 o’clock” in Sikh history dates back to the 18th century when Sikhs risked their lives to protect the identity of innocent Indian women by raiding Ahmed Shah Abdali’s forces in the dark of night.
This statement is an indication of the valor, courage and moral high ideals of the Sikhs.
Prof. Khayla said that the Congress leader’s use of such words from a sacred forum like the Assembly shows that even today his thinking is influenced by the English and slave mentality that kept the Sikh identity a subject of humor and ridicule for years.
He said that “this statement is not the fault of any one person or party, but it is a serious attempt to ignore the emotional consciousness of the Sikh community.”
Prof. Sarchand Singh Khayala demanded that Pratap Singh Bajwa immediately apologize to the Sikh community and withdraw his comments. At the same time, the Congress party should also show seriousness and vigilance on such sensitive issues and not insult Sikh history and heritage through sarcasm and sarcasm.
