MLA Pargat Singh

Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Pargat Singh has expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab, stating that rising crime and growing public insecurity have become major challenges facing the state.

In a statement shared on social media, Pargat Singh said that rising crime rates, weakening law and order, and a growing sense of insecurity among citizens are serious concerns. He emphasised that ensuring the safety and security of the people must remain the foremost responsibility of any government.

“The government must focus on restoring public confidence, strengthening policing, and ensuring the safety of every citizen,” Singh said, stressing that people should feel secure in their homes, neighbourhoods, and public spaces.

The Congress leader noted that public trust in law enforcement institutions is essential for maintaining peace and stability. He urged the Punjab Government to take effective measures to curb criminal activities, improve policing, and address citizens’ concerns regarding safety and security.

Pargat Singh further stated that a strong law-and-order framework is necessary not only to protect lives and property but also to create an environment conducive to economic growth, investment, and social harmony. He emphasised that the government must adopt a proactive approach to tackling crime and ensuring swift action against offenders.

His remarks come amid continuing political debate over the law and order situation in Punjab, with opposition parties raising concerns over incidents of crime and public safety. Singh maintained that restoring public confidence should be a top priority and called for concerted efforts to ensure that every citizen feels protected under the rule of law.

“The people of Punjab deserve a safe and secure environment. Strengthening law enforcement and rebuilding public trust are essential for the state’s progress and stability,” he added.
