Safaldeep Singh Charged with Extortion and Conspiracy to Commit Murder

Region of Peel: The Extortion Task Force has charged Safaldeep Singh, 22, with extortion and conspiracy to commit murder as part of an ongoing investigation into an organized crime group known as the “For Brothers.” The charges follow his arrest by the Edmonton Police Service (EPS) and subsequent transfer to Ontario.

According to investigators, the case is linked to two violent incidents in Brampton.

The first incident occurred on April 21 at approximately 2:50 a.m., when a Brampton business was targeted in a shooting. Police say the suspect fled the scene in a silver Honda Civic, and investigators recovered 14 shell casings.

The second incident took place on May 6 at around 8:00 p.m., when a man was leaving his residence and was confronted by an unknown individual. Police allege the accused pointed a firearm at the victim, but the weapon malfunctioned, allowing the victim to escape unharmed. The suspect fled in a grey Acura Integra.

On June 23, officers with the Edmonton Police Service arrested Safaldeep Singh during a traffic stop. Police say officers recovered a quantity of drugs and a loaded illegal firearm, resulting in firearms and drug-related charges.

Working with Peel Regional Police, EPS returned Singh to Ontario on June 26, where he was additionally charged with:

* Extortion
* Conspiracy to Commit Murder

He was denied bail and remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
