The app brings together multiple aspects of Sikh life

The Sangat Sikhi App, founded by Haymkarran Singh, is emerging as a digital initiative connecting Gurudwaras, Sangat, and Sewadars globally through technology. The app brings together multiple aspects of Sikh life —Gurbani, Gurudwara management, learning, and daily practice—in one accessible platform.
The idea for the Sangat Sikhi App came from a personal experience.
“My own problem faced during reading paath and not being able to match the speed of Sangat during a group paath session inspired me to create the Sangat Sikhi App. In today’s digital age, our Sikh community, especially young children, can greatly benefit from the power of good design and technology. We can bring Gurbani to every household, in every child’s hands, with technology. I wanted to enable all our Gurudwara Sahibs with the best technology infrastructure so that they can easily manage services and bookings, providing a rich experience to all Sangat globally,” says Haymkarran Singh.
The app offers a wide range of features to strengthen the global Sikh ecosystem. Users can listen to live kirtan from more than 500 Gurudwaras, read Gurbani through a learning mode with auto-scroll, set reminders for Nitnem, and create paath circles for family or community recitations. It also provides tools to assist Gurudwara Sahib management with digital booking systems, programme updates, and communication with Sangat.
Addressing the broader purpose of the project, Haymkarran adds, “Current technology solutions felt inadequate and disconnected. For example, there is no unified Sikhi solution that allows us to interact with Gurudwara Sahib for services and bookings seamlessly or to learn Gurbani across all digital platforms. Sangat Sikhi aims to bridge this gap. Sangat Sikhi aims to provide the best user experience to learn Gurbani and seamlessly interact with Gurudwara services, thereby strengthening Gurudwara management digitally and enabling global Sikhi community interactions for learning and sewa.”
A key pillar of Sangat Sikhi App is its focus on serving and empowering Raagis, Granthis, Paathis, Kathavachaks, Translators, and Sewadars. Haymkarran explains, “Until today, Ragi and Granthi Singhs and Kaurs have largely been dependent on Gurudwara Sahibs for their livelihood. Thus, it is a commonplace conversation that their next generation is not willingly considering the same profession as their elderly. Sangat Sikhi enables Ragi and Granthi Singh and Kaurs to make a livelihood independently, thereby reducing their dependency on Gurudwara management. This will make their talent more discoverable, respectfully paid for, and appreciated globally.”
The team behind Sangat Sikhi has ensured that all Gurbani and Sikh content presented on the app is verified and sourced with care. “I see technology as an enabler. With the right usage of technology, we can teach Gurbani to young children and parents and inspire the next generation, teach our rich Sikh history, and motivate the youth with our Guru’s stories that touch their hearts. We consistently audit our platform for information completeness, information accuracy, and information security,” Haymkarran says.
To maintain authenticity, the app benchmarks its content with pracharaks, historians, and credible Gurmat sources. “We consistently benchmark our content with pracharaks, historians, and all credible sources. We constantly learn and evolve. Our aim is to bring the most credible Sikhi platform experience to Sangat globally. Sangat Sikhi App is also an open platform. We provide an opportunity for all our users to share feedback, and we learn consistently,” he adds.
The app is also contributing to Gurudwaras’ ability to connect with dispersed Sangat more effectively. From broadcasting live kirtan and sharing event updates to allowing booking management and announcements, Sangat Sikhi is strengthening Gurudwara administration and outreach in practical, measurable ways.
“The younger generation should first be assisted to learn step-by-step, pankti-by-pankti, vyakhya-by-vyakhya. This is what our learning mode enables them to do. Then, gradually, I see the Sangat Sikhi App making them into a learned Gurbani reciter. With the best user experience we are aiming to create, we must see the younger generation connect more deeply with Gurbani and be involved in learning and sewa. The Sangat Sikhi project can shape a stronger spiritual association of the younger generation that will help them grow in life while being humble and true to our Guru’s teachings,” Haymkarran says.
The founder envisions Sangat Sikhi growing into a global platform over the next few years. “In the next five years, I want Sangat Sikhi to be spread globally, enabling all Gurudwara Sahibs and Sangat Sikhi with a good digital experience that helps the Sangat learn Gurbani and interact with Gurudwara Sahib services seamlessly. The Sangat Sikhi Project strengthens the Gurudwara Sahib’s management, gifting them a digital portal that seamlessly manages services and bookings and all interactions with the global Sangat.”
Sangat Sikhi App is available for download on the App Store and Google Play Store and continues to expand its reach through collaborations with Gurudwaras and Sikh institutions worldwide. The app represents a practical, respectful, and forward-thinking step in using technology for Sikh learning, service, and connection.
