London: British Labour MP and Chair of the UK Parliament’s Defence Committee, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, recently hosted Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, at the UK Parliament.
The meeting focused on strengthening relations between the United Kingdom and Qatar, defence and security cooperation, and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
Dhesi was joined by members of the UK Parliament’s Defence Committee during the discussions. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on regional security challenges and the importance of continued diplomatic engagement.
The UK and Qatar maintain close strategic relations, including cooperation in defence, security and regional diplomacy. Dhesi’s meeting with the Qatari delegation highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and continued dialogue on international security issues.
No formal agreement was announced following the meeting, but the discussions underlined the importance of maintaining strong UK–Qatar relations and working together on shared security and peace objectives.
