Washington, D.C.- U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced inflation-adjusted increases to several immigration-related fees created under H.R. 1. The agency said the adjustments are relatively minor and reflect inflation between July 2025 and July 2026.
The new fees will take effect on October 16, 2026. USCIS stated that applications and requests postmarked on or after that date must include the applicable new fee. Requests submitted without the correct fee may be rejected.
Among the changes, the annual asylum application fee will increase from $102 to $105. The immigration parole fee associated with Form I-131, which covers applications for travel documents, parole documents and arrival/departure records, will rise from $1,020 to $1,050.
The fee for an initial Employment Authorisation Document (EAD) for asylum applicants, parole applicants and Temporary Protected Status applicants will increase from $560 to $570. The fee for Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, will also rise from $510 to $520.
USCIS said these adjustments are part of an annual inflation-based process required under H.R. 1. The agency had previously announced the implementation of the H.R. 1 immigration-related fees in July 2025, with inflation adjustments continuing in subsequent fiscal years.
For immigrants, asylum applicants and other individuals preparing filings, the October 16 effective date is particularly important. Anyone submitting a covered request on or after that date should make sure the filing includes the updated fee applicable to the particular immigration benefit being requested.
