Sahney also welcomed the Prime Minister’s emphasis on building a drug-free India, saying the fight against drugs is critical for protecting the country’s young generation. The issue has particular significance for Punjab, where drug abuse and trafficking have remained major social and political concerns.
The MP also highlighted the Prime Minister’s call for stronger civil defence through technology and continued efforts to eradicate Naxalism and Maoism. According to Sahney, these priorities reflect the need for a stronger and safer India capable of responding to emerging security and social challenges.
Sahney further praised the emphasis on Nari Shakti, particularly the goal of creating six crore Lakhpati Didis, describing women’s economic empowerment as an important component of India’s development story.
“This is not merely a vision for tomorrow, it is a call to every Indian to contribute to building a confident, capable and developed India,” Sahney said, expressing gratitude for what he described as the Prime Minister’s leadership and resolve.
His message comes as India marks its Independence Day, with political leaders across the country reflecting on the country’s achievements while outlining their priorities for the future. Sahney’s remarks underline his support for a development agenda centred on youth empowerment, women’s economic participation, sports, national security and social welfare.
For Punjab, the emphasis on a drug-free India carries particular importance, given the continuing concern over the impact of substance abuse on young people and families. Sahney’s endorsement of the Prime Minister’s message therefore also places the state’s drug challenge within the broader national goal of protecting India’s next generation.
The MP said the responsibility for building a developed India cannot rest with the government alone, stressing that every citizen has a role to play in creating a confident, capable and prosperous nation.
